-
Otodus obliquus was a shark species that lived from the Paleocene through the Miocene epochs, approximately 60 to 13 million years ago. This species is believed to be an ancestor of the Megalodon.
-
Over time, Otodus obliquus evolved into Otodus aksuaticus. The transition is marked by a change in the shape and serration of the teeth.
-
Otodus aksuaticus then evolved into Carcharocles auriculatus, followed by Carcharocles angustidens, Carcharocles chubutensis, and finally into Carcharocles megalodon (commonly known as Megalodon).
-
The Megalodon lived approximately from the early Miocene to the end of the Pliocene, 23 million to 3.6 million years ago.
Remember, this is just one idea of how these sharks might have evolved.
